Monday wildfire update

Yesterday Texas Forest Service responded to 12 fires for 13,318 acres.

Today the Texas Forest Service responded to 12 requests for assistance from local fire departments.

Travis County, Unnamed Fire - TFS bulldozers are responding; Travis and Williamson County Fire Departments are on scene at a fire reported SW of Leander off Nameless Road. Fire is estimated to be 5 acres; multiple homes threatened. Fire is in heavy brush.

Irion County, Elkins Fire - TFS bulldozers and engines responded to a 550 acre fire on the Rocker B Ranch at 2:15 pm. Air attack requested.

Henderson County, Fire #94 - No structures threatened; 2 acres; 100% controlled at 2:43 am.

Archer County, Flying M Fire - TFS responded to a 75 acres; 75% contained. Cause: breaker box on oil rig.

Archer County, Magg Fire - TFS bulldozer responded to a 75 acre fire north of Archer City. 10 homes threatened; 10 homes saved. 100% contained.

Tom Green County, Twin Mountain Railroad Fire - Three fires totaling 30 acres; 95% contained; 4 homes, two businesses threatened and saved. Caused by train.

Yoakum County, East Plains Complex - Three fires near town of Plains burning in grass; roadside starts. 3 homes threatened; 3 homes saved. TFS SEATS (Single Engine Air Tankers), bulldozer and engines responded at 3:30 pm. Fire was 802 acres and did not get into the city of Plains. 100% contained at 5:00 pm.

Crane County, West Crane Fire - TFS bulldozers and engines responded at 4:30 pm.
No known threats at this time.

Walker County, Fire #208 - TFS responded to a 1 acre fire, caused by power lines; controlled at 4:50 pm.

Walker County, Fire #209 - TFS responded to a fire; controlled at 4:45 pm.

Brewster County, East McKnight - 100% controlled

Brewster County, West McKnight - 100% controlled.

Fires previously reported:

Ector County, Bates Field Fire - 1500 acres; 90% contained; Odessa Fire Dept. will staff overnight patrolling and mopping up; TFS bulldozers and engines will staff tomorrow. 300 homes threatened.

Garza County, Justiceburg Fire - 6,000 acres. 95% contained. 20 homes were threatened and saved; 400 RVs threatened and saved. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad damaged and closed.

Brown County, Camp Bowie Fire - Fire is up and running. Currently 2 Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopters, Army National Guard Chinook helicopter, a TFS Type 1 helicopter, and heavy air tanker are on the fire. TFS bulldozers and engines and county fire resources are working the 5,000 acre fire at the Texas Army National Guard Training Facility. 90% contained at 11:40 am.

Yoakum County, Souch Road Fire - TFS bulldozers, engines, supervision, and 2 SEATS responded to a fire 2 miles west of Denver City. 50 homes threatened; 50 homes saved. 100% contained at 6:00 pm

Real County, Rancho Real Fire - No structures threatened; 100 acres; 85% contained; TFS air attack will monitor.

Shackelford County, 7 Hearts Ranch - Fire is 50 acres; 100% contained.

Schleicher County, Harkey Road Fire - Fire is 2,700 acres; 100% contained.
