Longview, TX — Marshall Mayor Chris Paddie announced his candidacy for the Texas State House of Representatives in newly drawn District 9 on Monday.

Paddie included his record from being Marshall’s mayor and a city commissioner in his announcement which notes: “Paddie never raised taxes on city residents. He helped push and pass reforms that have kept the city fiscally sound despite the national recession. Paddie is both a strong fiscal and social conservative Republican.”
Paddie was asked about plans concerning the Marshall City Commission.
“I fully intend to honor the commitment that I made to the citizens of Marshall and serve out the remainder of my current term,” said Paddie in an email. “After researching the election laws and visiting with our city attorney, I was able to determine that there will not be a conflict.”
