Lufkin, TX —
Three small bags of marijuana lying in the middle of First Street following an accident Monday led to a Lufkin man’s arrest.
The accident happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of First Street and Townsend Street when Antonio Sanford, 31, failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign in his Cadillac and hit a Honda driven by Victoria Stern, 37, of Lufkin, according to Lufkin Police officer Brad Lawrence. After the accident, three clear plastic bags of marijuana were found lying in the road under Sanford’s driver’s side door, Lawrence said.
When officers arrived on scene, Sanford was out of his vehicle, cursing and kicking his car, according to witnesses. He did walk over to Stern to ask if she was OK, one witness said.
