
LUFKIN — A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Friday morning in what appeared to be serious condition after being struck by a sports utility vehicle on North Timberland Drive.
The accident happened at 11:20 a.m. when Jonathan McGinty, 30, of Huntington, accidentally hit the man in front of Cool Smiles, according to Lufkin Police Cpl. Nick Malone. The man, who appeared to be in his 40s or 50s, was not immediately identified.
Following the accident, McGinty told officers he didn't see the man until he was about to hit him.
