Man allegedly on meth reports grandparents being held hostage

A Lufkin man was taken into police custody after claiming his grandparents were in duress.

On Monday, at 8:04 p.m., Wesley Alan Barrett, 27, reported to local authorities that his grandparents were being held hostage. It was later determined Barrett was lying and also allegedly under the influence of meth.

Barrett was arrested in the 400 block of Englewood Drive for false report, public intoxication and a warrant held by another law enforcement agency.
