A Lufkin woman high on drugs was busted stealing from a local business Tuesday morning.

Claira V. Faison, 50, was seen hiding items in her purse at a drug store on the 1200 block of East Lufkin Avenue, according to a store employee.

When contacted by a police officer shortly after 11:00 a.m., Faison angrily dumped all three items inside her purse on the ground, then claimed she did not steal from the store, nor put merchandise in her purse.

Authorities noticed signs that Faison was intoxicated, and when questioned, she told the officer that she had taken cocaine.

Faison was booked into Angelina County Jail for public intoxication and theft of property valued at less than $1,500 with two prior convictions. On request of the store manager, Faison was issued a criminal trespass warning form for the business.
