Lufkin, Texas —
Lufkin Police have released more details in the Wednesday evening shooting of a Lufkin man on Dale Street.
Ataymian Skinner, 27, a former Lufkin Panther football standout, was driving his white Caprice Classic on Dale Street when he was flagged down by a man at the Lufkin Land Park around 7 p.m., according to a police report. The man then came to Skinner’s driver’s side door to confront him, and a struggle took place over his car keys, the report stated.
Skinner was reportedly leaning over to pick up his keys when five shots were fired, according to witnesses who heard the gun blasts. Skinner told police he saw a man standing at the back of his car with a shotgun, but the bullet hole in his back window didn’t seem consistent with that type of weapon.
