Longview United Way chief resigns for similar post in Midland
Our partners The Longview News Journal reports Donna Mahurin has tendered her resignation as the executive director of the Greater Longview United Way effective May 25 to accept a position with the United Way of Midland.
“It will be an opportunity to impact more lives in a positive way,” she said Tuesday. The United Way of Midland’s campaign raised about $3.3 million this past year compared to Longview’s $1.3 million fundraising goal.
“I’m certainly going to miss the friendships I’ve developed in this community with the caring volunteers and board,” Mahurin said. “Being here has allowed me to be around good people who care about their community, and that’s been a great experience.”
Mahurin said working to identify and address needs in the community has been rewarding.
“The main highlight is being part of a caring community for the past seven years,” Mahurin said. “It has been a blessing to be able to see so many lives improved through my work with the Greater Longview United Way.”
Lesa Story, 2012 president of the board of directors of the Greater Longview United Way, said the United Way and the community will miss Mahurin.
