LONGVIEW — At around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, Longview police officers were called to a burglary in progress.
When Officer McCarter arrived, a witness told him he saw three young black males walking up and down the street. He said he saw the suspects open the garage door to a house located on Rockwall Drive, and take at least one bicycle out of the garage and leave the area. Officer McCarter and Sgt. Chris Clark located the teens on bicycles in the 200 Block of Ward Street. After speaking to them and to other witnesses, officers determined that the bicycles were taken from the garage of the house on Rockwall Drive. The bicycles were valued at approximately $800.00. Both suspects were taken to the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with burglary of a habitation.
It was later determined that both subjects have given the arresting officers false information about their identity. Both teens were also charged with fail to identify.
Once again, Longview police want to remind citizens to do their part and be aware of their neighborhood and suspicious circumstances and people. Being proactive and watchful neighbor, just as in this case, will deter and help solve crime in Longview Neighborhoods.
