Longview residents commemorate King during march
Longview, Tx (Longview News-Journal) — Marching down MLK Boulevard on Longview’s south side, about 75 people of all races joined in song to commemorate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
“Today is a day for reflection of what we are doing in the present to impact the future,” James Mathis said. “This rally represents love, peace, service and compassion.”
After a quick prayer, the group began their march Monday afternoon at the Broughton Recreation Center, traveling about a half mile north to Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where they entered the church for a memorial service.
