Longview native survives Italian cruise ship catastrophe

LONGVIEW — According to our newspaper partner the Longview News-Journal, a Longview native and her husband were among the survivors of the Costa Concordia cruise ship that capsized Friday.

The survivors are identified as Tameshia Wilson Gumbs and Kishun Gumbs. Tameshia is a 1999 graduate of Longview High School.

Both are are okay, according to her mother Debbie Johnson.

The Gumbs currently serve in the Navy, but were aboard the Concordia for vacation.

So far, 11 people are confirmed dead with more than 20 missing after the cruise ship wrecked off the Tuscan coast.
