LONGVIEW, TX --- An Oklahoma man has a lot to be thankful this year after a Longview doctor was able to save his leg.

Lester "Bear" Stewart of Oklahoma suffers from diabetes and recently started to experience some complications including circulation problems in his leg.

After multiple surgeries to help the problem, Mr. Stewart's doctors in Oklahoma told him there was nothing else they could do and Stewart was going to lose his leg.

Stewart not wanting to lose his leg did some research and found about a procedure being done at Longview Regional Hospital that could save his leg. After consulting with Dr. Germanwala at the hospital Stewart and his family came down last week.

Dr. Germanwala performed the surgery over the weekend and Stewart says he can already feel a difference.

Stewart was discharged Monday afternoon just in time to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with his family.
