JACKSONVILLE-- More than a hundred freshmen boys live at America's Best Value Inn two miles from their peers at Lon Morris College.
Back in September, neighbors of the Inn complained of loud noises, talk of violence, and even shots fired in a fight. After school officials enforced a curfew, increased security, and met with neighbors, they are taking their last step to relieve worries.
Officials are moving the students back to campus starting in January. Chaplain Rhett Ansley says they will live in cottages, duplexes, a new dorm, and rental properties around town.
Ansley says, "It really is better for us to have our students here on campus. It works for us as supporters of the community, and it works for us financially for our school."
Several neighbors tell us they haven't had as many problems with Lon Morris students since they met with staff back in September, but they still say they are ready for the students to be back on campus.
