ANGELINA COUNTY — Angelina County DPS officials tell KFXK, one man is dead following a collision with a van on Sunday afternoon. It happened on Highway 103 just west of Lufkin at 2:01 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011.

Tyler's Trane to lay-off hundreds of employees

TYLER — KFXK has learned, more than 500 Trane employees will be laid off from its Tyler plant. The air conditioning manufacturer made the announcement on Tuesday.

Eastbound lanes of I-20 closed after 4 reported wrecks

SMITH COUNTY —  Smith County DPS confirmed that there are at least 4 wrecks on I-20, eastbound, around mile marker 551-567. The eastbound lanes of I-20 are shut down at mile marker 551.

Crews Working Brush Fire

Several fire deparments are on the scene of a brush fire in Smith County. The blaze is near Farm-to-Market 2908. Firefighters are working to keep the fire away from some buildings.

Hallsville ISD credit rating lowered, financial outlook demoted to ‘negative'

TYLER— Caldwell Zoo is saddened to announce that our African Elephant bull “Chico” passed away suddenly Saturday July 9. At the time of his death he was 46 years old and the oldest African bull in North American zoos.

Forest fire near Henderson

Longview, TX — East Texas firefighters are working on a large fire in a wooded area south of Henderson on FM 225. The Texas Forest Service tells KFXK they have taken control of the situation.
