Authorities: Rain doesn’t make outdoor burning okay

TYLER — Authorities issue a renewed warning about outdoor burning. Tyler Deputy Fire Marshal James Suggs says the small amount of rain that’s fallen apparently entices people to think such burning is all right.

Douglas — A grass fire is burning in Smith County near Douglas. Crews are battling flames near the intersection of CR 233 and CR 26.

Crews working fire on FM 2022 in Anderson County

Anderson County — Firefighters are trying to contain a fire on FM 2022 near Slocum in Anderson County. Officials were not able to tell us how big the fire is at this time.

Fire crews contain East Mountain blaze

East Mountain — Crews have contained the fire on FM 1844. A total of 130 acres have burned in the past 2 days.

Grass fire burning off Loop 281 in Longview

LONGVIEW — Longview firefighters are working to contain several acres that are burning near Loop 281. No evacuations have been made, and no structures are in danger.
