Local Fire Departments receive New Operations Vehicles from Homeland
New vehicles allow increased mobility in crowed and hard to reach areas in emergency situations.
Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security Emergency Preparedness Director Sandy Davis, Bossier City Fire Chief Sammy Halphen and Shreveport Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford will hold a joint press conference to unveil new Special Operations Vehicles purchased with funding from a $178,000 Regional Metropolitan Medical Response System Grant.
The new vehicles are outfitted as a small ambulance, carrying more equipment including a stretcher, and with the potential to travel at speeds up to 40 MPH it offers a quick response in many situations.
Currently, both Departments utilize bicycles, ATVs, Segways, Gator Carts, and the old- fashion foot patrol to provide services.
