Kilgore man sentenced to 35 years in prison for DWI

Longview, TX — Keynon James Carpenter, 47, of Kilgore accepted a 35-year prison sentence this week for habitual drunken driving.

Carpenter entered a guilty plea Monday to driving while intoxicated March 12 when he was stopped by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper. Carpenter, who had at least two prior drunken driving convictions, had been in the Gregg County Jail on $12,000 bond since his arrest for DWI, driving with a suspended license, driving without financial responsibility and for failure to identify.
