Jacksonville ISD teacher killed in morning accident
SMITH COUNTY — FOX51 has been told the woman involved in Thursday morning's motorcycle accident has died from her injuries.
FOX51 has also learned that this woman is a teacher for Jacksonville ISD.
Here is a statement released by the school district:
We are told and believe to be true that Jacksonville ISD experienced a great loss today. Jo Meredith, Health Science Teacher at Jacksonville High School in the CTE Department passed away as a result of a tragic accident this morning on her way to work. Mrs. Meredith was beginning her third year teaching at Jacksonville High School.
Adminstrators and counselors are informing the students about the accident. In response to this tragic event, staff members trained to deal with grief counseling are available to help our students get back to regular learning and every day activities as soon as possible.
Jo Meredith will be greatly missed at JHS, and her passing has affected students and staff members deeply. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
