Hour-long foot chase ends in tased suspect; 2 officers hospitalized
Killeen — Two officers were hospitalized Tuesday during an hour-long foot chase in Killeen.
The chase began when officials were serving a warrant on Roel Reando Brown, 25, who was wanted for aggravated sexual assault.
At around 1:53 p.m., officers found the wanted man at an apartment complex on the 700 block of Santa Rose Drive. When they tried to arrest Brown, he ran away from police down a stairwell. Brown continued to run from them in the areas of Hallmark, Dimple, Safady and a field areas north of the apartments.
Authorities tell KWKT an officer chasing the suspect was hit by a truck heading east on the 800 block of Hallmark as he entered the street. The officer was flown to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Another policeman was also injured during the pursuit. He was bitten by one of the K-9’s as the dog was trying to get the suspect. He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and will be treated and released.
Officers were able to tase and catch Brown in the 800 block of Adelia at 2:55 p.m.
Roel Reando Brown was taken to the Killeen City Jail where he is charged with aggravated sexual assault.
Other formal charges are pending the return of complaints from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.
