The historic town of Natchitoches is without one bed and breakfast this morning following a large fire.

The Levy-East House Bed and Breakfast, which was built in the 1830s, caught fire around 5:15 this morning on the 300 block of Jefferson Street.

Fire officials tell KMSS the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene. The structure burned for most of the morning before it was put out by Natchitoches emergency crews.

Natchitoches, the oldest city in Louisiana, is known for its hospitality and is home to 34 bed and breakfast businesses.

No one was injured during the fire and the cause is unknown.

Chris Levy, the son of the former owner, tells KMSS he was saddened as he watched the house burning this morning. See the interview and full report tonight at 9 p.m.
