Harlingen police seize $7.5 million in marijuana

Harlingen police have seized five tons of marijuana at a local shipping warehouse.

On Friday, May 17, police patrolling the 6000 block of West Expressway 83 noticed suspicious activity at a local shipping warehouse.

Police searched the area and discovered large amounts of marijuana in the process of being loaded into a semi truck.

Officers with the narcotics team began to inventory the drug and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) assisted the department in the investigation.

The total weight of the marijuana was over five tons with an estimated street value of $7.5 million and is the largest seizure in history for the Harlingen Police Department.
