Gregg County Sheriff elected President of the Sheriff's Association

Gregg County elected a new President of the Sheriff's Association of Texas at their 135th Annual Training Conference held in Corpus Christi on July 20 to July 23.

Gregg County Sheriff, Maxey Cerliano, was elected President.

More than 1,500 participants were in attendance at the American Bank Center where they heard speakers, training sessions, and visited more than 240 exhibits showcasing some of the latest technology in law enforcement.

Sheriff Cerliano has been the Sheriff of Gregg County since January of 2001.

The Sheriff's Association of Texas is one of the oldest law enforcement associations in the nation. The Sheriffs of Texas met for the first time on August 14, 1874.

The Sheriffs of Texas began annual training conferences in 1878. these training conferences today are the largest gathering of law enforcement officers in Texas.

Sheriffs and other county and local law enforcement officers, federal and state officers, and major industry security personnel attend.
