Huntington- TX (Lufkin Daily News) — Former members of the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department are waiting to be called back to duty by fire chief Jerry LaSalle after he let them all go last month on what was supposed to be the department’s election night.

Former assistant fire chief Amy Dempsey claims LaSalle’s motive was to prevent himself from being voted out of office and replaced by fellow firefighter Stephen Davidson. LaSalle’s response to Dempsey’s allegation during a phone conversation Wednesday was that “anyone who says that is just mad about possibly not being reinstated.”
