Firearms, tools stolen from Cherokee Co. house

Cherokee County authorities are asking for any information about a burglary that happened in early September.

Sometime during the week of September 2nd, a burglar broke into a house on FM 1248, just south of Rusk, and stole several guns and tools.

The homeowner was in the process of moving, and had last been at his house on September 2nd. He returned to the house on September 8th to retrieve the last of his personal items.

However, upon his arrival, he discoveredthat many items had been stolen during the week.

There did not appear to be any forced entry into the house, and it is beleived that the burglars entered through an unlocked window.

The total value of the stolen items is estimated at more than $2,000.

Among the items stolen from the house were:

  • Older 22 cal revolver with blued finish & wood grips; valued at $100
  • Smith & Wesson .357 Mag revolver, Model 28, blued finish & wood grips; valued at $400
  • Singer, 45 cal semi-automatic pistol, blued finish & brown synthetic grips; valued at $400
  • Ruger, 22 cal revolver with blued finish & wood grips; valued at $250
  • Smith & Wesson, 38 special revolver, blued finish & wood grips; valued at $300
  • Portable, 1 HP air compressor with two green tanks; valued at $200
  • Metaba brand grinder, dark green in color; valued at $150
  • Harbor Freight brand nail gun, orange in color; valued at $100
  • Craftsman miter box and saw, gray in color; valued at $150
