Extreme drought, budget cuts mean difficult wildfire season

The 2011 wildfire season is turning into a difficult one, officials say.

“We’re looking at a couple of unprecedented factors,” Texas Forest Service spokeswoman Linda Moon said about the state’s extreme drought levels and earlier-than-usual wildfires.

Nearly 1 million acres of land have gone up in flames across Texas...
