ETX man caught after being spotted with stolen rifles

Authorities have arrested an East Texas man for allegedly stealing several rifles Tuesday.

At 6:55 a.m., Marshall police received a call from the 600 block of Pinewood Drive in reference to a vehicle burglary in which a rifle was reported stolen.

A short time later, a person called 911 regarding a black man running in the same area carrying a rifle. Responding officers were unable to locate the thief.

At 9:55 a.m., dispatchers sent officers to the 700 block of Rosewood Circle in reference to a man armed with several rifles. When officers arrived, the man ran from law enforcement, but was quickly caught.

The suspect, identified as Corey Lee Johnson, 19, of Marshall, was booked into Harrison County Jail for burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a building, theft of a firearm, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest.
