Nacogdoches, Texas (Fox 51) — A Nacogdoches man is behind bars after authorities learned he allegedly tried to run over his girlfriend and assaulted family members over several months.
According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, on Tuesday at 7:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance near the intersection of Cox Street and Dennis Street. When police made it to the scene, they were not able to find a vehicle, so they checked an apartment in Oakhill Plaza where previous disturbances had taken place.
A witness told officers a man pulled a woman from a vehicle during the incident and left the scene with the man driving. He was later identified as Donnell Mallard, 27.
Authorities found three children, ages 2-years-old, 3-years-old and 9-months-old, inside the apartment. Officers began looking for the vehicle and located it in the 900 block of West Main.
Police learned the pair had been fighting when the woman jumped into the vehicle to avoid being run over. Officers then determined this type of violence had occurred between the two for several months.
The woman, whom is the mother of the children, was returned to the apartment and the children released to her. Mallard was arrested for continuous family violence, abandoning and endangering a child and possession of marijuana, which officers located in his vehicle.
