Quitman, Texas (FOX51) — Residents of all ages from Wood County and surrounding areas are invited to attend a community celebration and dedication of the new East Texas Medical Center Quitman, Sunday, July 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
“We are inviting the public to join us as we celebrate the completion of our new hospital facility – a major step in fostering ETMC’s goal of providing the highest quality healthcare to the people of Wood County,” said Warren Robicheaux, administrator of ETMC Quitman.
Sunday’s event will feature remarks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:00 p.m. Following the dedication, tours will be available of the beautiful, state-of-the-art facility, with ETMC team members, physicians and volunteers assisting guests. In addition, members of the Wood County Central Hospital District and ETMC Quitman boards will be recognized during the event, along with others who have played a role in the development of ETMC Quitman.
There will be lots of fun activities for children including a balloon artist, face painting, tours of an ETMC Air 1 helicopter and an ETMC EMS ambulance. Andy Ambulance also will be on hand.
Healthcare providers from the ETMC First Physicians clinics in Quitman, Mineola and Van will be on hand to meet guests, including new pediatrician Dr. Annelise Ribeiro.
Musical groups from the community have been invited to provide entertainment throughout the afternoon and refreshments will be served.
“This celebration represents the partnership between ETMC, the WCCHD and the community that has resulted in a tremendous new hospital that serves as a safety net for our entire county,” Robicheaux said. “In addition to advancing health services, ETMC Quitman is vital to the economic development of Wood County, as it supplies jobs and helps attract new business and residents. It will be a wonderful day that reflects our community’s spirit.”
