East Texas beer and wine sales make big impact, according to city leaders
TYLER — Petitions are being signed in at least eleven different businesses in and around the Tyler area with the goal of getting beer and wine on the ballot.
Now that other cities have passed similar proposals, the economic impact is turning some heads.
In fact, Winona for example from 2009 to 2011, their sales tax jumped 642% according to the Texas Comptroller's office, but East Texans seem divided over the issue.
