East Texas grandparents found guilty of scalding toddler in tub
Tyler, TX — An East Texas couple arrested for injury to a child was found guilty in a smith county courtroom Tuesday afternoon.
Kenneth Neal Walker, 55, Shelley Walker, 60, were taken into custody in February.
The grandparents were convicted of placing their 2-year-old granddaughter into scalding water in a bathtub at a house on Aberdeen in Tyler.
The toddler was severely burned on her feet and ankles. She was flown to a Dallas hospital when the incident took place.
The sentencing phase of the trial began immediately. The Walkers face anywhere from probation to life in prison.
Closing arguments and jury deliberations are scheduled in a Tyler court room on Tuesday for the grandparents charged with injury to a child.
Fox 51 was in the courtroom Monday as more evidence was presented.
Kenneth and Shelly Walker were arrested in March, accused of hurting their 2 year old granddaughter, Bridget Walker, when she was found to be severely burned on her feet and ankles during their care.
Reports indicated that the toddler had been placed into scalding bathtub water.
