At noon in Longview on Saturday, at Peters Chevrolet, East Texans gathered together to have lunch, watch an air show, and honor those who have, and are fighting for their freedom.
The air show was put together by the Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum in Gilmer.
And amongst the crowd were kids, crawling in vehicles, and looking in awe as the P-47's made their rounds.
Veterans in attendance say that it is important that children learn early on about the sacrifices the U.S. military members make.
Now the event had limited exposure, but the response sure didn't show it.
Because when vets are involved, East Texas is there.
Organizers tell KFXK that this is the first time to hold an event such as this, but due to the turnout, and visitors' reactions, they would not be surprised if it became annual.
