TYLER — On July 4, 2011, at approximately 1:53 a.m. officers of the Tyler Police Department were dispatched to the area of Front and Palace Streets on a possible aggravated robbery.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a very distraught Hispanic male who advised his 17 year old son had been kidnapped.
The Hispanic male told officers that he had met the kidnappers and his son at a gas station in North Tyler and made a payment to the kidnappers. The Hispanic male told officers that he was told he needed to get more money or his son would not be released.
Officers determined the type of vehicle occupied by the victim(s) and the suspects. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in North Tyler and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers identified the occupants of the vehicle as two Hispanic males ages 19 and 17, a black male and a black female. Officers at the scene were able to determine that the black male and black female had assaulted the two Hispanic males in a North Tyler apartment complex at knife and gun point during an attempted drug transaction.
The black male and black female then forced the two Hispanic males in to the victim’s vehicle and forced one of the victims to call his father for money in exchange for the victims’ freedom. One of the victim’s father paid the black male and female money to release the victims. The suspects then demanded more money to release the victims.
Officers contacted the subjects prior to a second payment. An 18 year old black male identified as Trevon Jones-Harris and an 18 year old black female identified as Meosha Tilley were arrested for two counts of Aggravated Robbery and two counts of Aggravated Kidnapping.
Tilley and Jones-Harris were booked into the Smith County Jail.
