Drunk Longview man survives collision with train

LONGVIEW — A Longview man was taken to the hospital Saturday night after he was hit by a train.

At around 9:52 p.m., officers were sent to the area of Sabine and Ray Streets after receiving a call that a person had been hit by a train.

When police arrived, they found 52-year old Donald Roy Brown of Longview in a ditch about 20 feet below the rail bridge. After talking to Brown, officials learned he was trying to cross the rail bridge with his bicycle when he was struck by a train.

According to Longview police, officers also determined Brown was drunk at the time of the accident. Brown was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
