The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Glass Recreation Center, is proud to announce three new drama camps. Participants will learn about stage presence, costuming and make up. These camps will be a week long; each will cost $15. There is a maximum camper capacity of 20.
The classes will be led by Sherene Hansen-Player, who is a former drama and theater teacher. She has more than 15 years of experience in the performing arts.
All camps will be held Monday through Wednesday from 1-3 p.m.
Week One: July 23-25, “Drama is Fun!” During this week campers will participate in drama games and fun drama activities. They will learn special terms unique to the world of drama.
Week Two: July 30-Aug.1, “Drama is Details!” Campers will have a hands-on approach with the details of drama. Students will learn about stage make-up, costuming and props.
Week Three: Aug. 6-8, “Drama is Performing!” During the final week, each camper will learn about being on stage in front of an audience. They will learn choreographed routines and a musical number. They will also read scripts and learn about blocking.
Each camp will end with a short performance for families and friends. The performances will be held on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. at the Glass Recreation Center located at 501 West 32nd St. after each weekly session.
