Donut shop boxes now displaying ads

Next time you are at a doughnut shop you might be sinking your teeth into something new, an advertisement.

A small doughnut shop off of 69 in Jacksonville is filled with good smells, pictures of loyal customers and advertisements on some of their doughnut boxes.

Jacksonville Donut Shoppe is one of many independent shops displaying ads on their doughnut boxes.

Owner Richard Toch says Dawn Food Products distributed the boxes to them about a year ago.

Toch hopes disturbing these walking advertisements will bring more customers into his place.

"I feel great. I am so happy they came to help me out and help my business grow," said Toch.

Companies like Dish Network and Pizza Hut and other big name corporations have their names splattered across these boxes.

But, Toch's customers have the option to have a box filled with advertisements or a plain one.

This isn't a new strategy, though.

Exclusively Yours Advertising makes their own doughnut boxes as their form of advertising.

Vice President DeAnn Wells says this is an effective strategy for many businesses.

"When you go into a break room somewhere, and you see ten different doughnut boxes, the one that has an actual company name on it instead of a doughnut shop name is definitely going to stand out.," said Wells.

Toch and his wife hope this new addition will help give them a little exposure.

"I cross my fingers. My loyal customers keep coming in everyday and tell me not to quit. They tell me I can make it. That is why I keep going," said Toch.
