An East Texas man accused of killing a man and abducting, shooting and wounding two women during the robbery of a store in Rusk has lost a federal court appeal, moving him one step closer to execution.

Richard Cobb, 28, was sentenced to the death penalty for the 2002 death of Kenneth Vandever, and the abduction and wounding of two female store clerks.

Cobb's accomplice in the robbery, Beunka Adams, was executed for his role last month.
