Carmike Cinemas in Tyler and Sony are inviting local veterans to attend free screenings of the new action packed thriller "White House Down" on Thursday, July 4th.

Columbia Pictures is teaming with several theater chains, including Carmike Cinemas in Tyler, to allow active military members and veterans to see "White House Down" for free on July 4th with a guest.

The offer is Sony's way of thanking America's troops for their sacrifice and service.

"We think 'White House Down' is the summer's best action movie, so on July 4th, we're inviting all active duty and veteran military personnel to bring a guest and see it for free. It's a great way to celebrate the holiday and to honor and thank the troops for their service to our country," said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony.

Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, "White House Down" stars Channing Tatum as a military veteran who must protect the President (Jamie Foxx) when a heavily-armed paramilitary group takes over the White House.

For show times, visit Carmike Cinemas.
