Houston- A Houston man has been charged with capital murder in the deaths of a woman and her adult son who were found shot in their south Houston home on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Jeffery Keith Prevost, 51, was charged early Sunday with killing the pair on Friday, Assistant Harris County District Attorney Donna Hawkins said.
Family members asked police to check on Sherry White, 51, and her son, Kyle Lavergne, about 12:30 p.m. Saturday because they were not responding to calls. Lavergne was to turn 21 on Tuesday.
Family and police forced their way into the home in the 8900 block of Ferdinand, where they found the bodies.
HPD spokeswoman Jody Silva said on Sunday that Prevost confessed to police, saying he killed White, his girlfriend of two months, out of jealousy. He said he shot Lavergne as he was attempting to flee.
