Longview, Tx — LeTourneau University will present a stunning performance of classically trained violinists known as Black Violin at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the S.E. Belcher Jr Chapel and Performance Center, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. in Longview. Tickets are available through the Belcher Center Box Office at (903) 233-3080 or online at www.BelcherCenter.com.
Kev Marcus and Wil b are Black Violin, two classically trained musicians who, along with their deejay TK, have created the ultimate synergy between classical and hip-hop music and with it an incredible opportunity to reach children.
In 2005 the group was awarded the prestigious title of “Apollo Legends.” The violinists, both graduates of Dillard Performing Arts High School, used their musical talents to earn full scholarships to college.
Black Violin now wants to make sure North America’s young people get the same exposure to the arts and opportunity they did. Performing and touring with Alica Keyes, P. Diddy, and Akon to name a few, Black Violin has committed itself for the next few years to give back and teach children that classical music is cool.
The show sponsor is Subway Sandwiches of East Texas.
The entire 2012-2013 Belcher Center season is underwritten by Martin Midstream Partners. Marquee sponsors include Transet and Network Communications, with each show sponsored by other generous donors.
