Beastie Boys Adam Yauch dies at 47
Adam Yauch of the pioneering hip hop group the Beastie Boys has died at the age of 47.
Yauch had been receiving treatment for salivary gland cancer since 2009.
Last month, Yauch was so sick he couldn't even make it to the Beasties' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Beastie Boys first gained notoriety in the late '80s with their debut album, Licensed to Ill, and the critically-acclaimed follow-up Paul's Boutique.
Yauch earned individual attention for his efforts in the Free Tibet movement, and for directing many of the band's videos, under the alias Nathanial Hornblower.
