Authorities catch man responsible for mutiple burglaries at Tyler apartment complex

On Sunday at approximately 12:30 a.m., Tyler police officers were called to the Varsity Place Apartments for a robbery that had just occurred in the parking lot

Officers were told that the caller had been robbed at gunpoint by a white male subject who ran from the scene on foot toward the back of the complex. Officers arrived quickly and found the suspect, Brandon Scott Birdsong, inside the complex. Officers cuffed Birdsong and found a silver colored BB gun pistol on him.

Officers questioned witnesses and searched an apartment at the complex. They were able to recover the stolen property from the robbery as well as stolen property from an car burglary which had just hapened at the apartment complex.

Brandon Scott Birdsong was booked into the Smith County Jail for aggravated robbery, auto burglary, and public intoxication.
