Nacogdoches, TX — Construction of the new emergency shelter/civic center is entering “the home stretch,” according to county Commissioner Jim Elder, and all eyes are on Aug. 1 as the date for a grand opening reception.
The fencing around the construction area on west Loop 224 at the Nacogdoches County Exposition Center has been removed in order to finish off the last phase of parking lot pavement, Elder said.
“And, of course, they have closed the building,” he said. “There is very limited access because they are doing some of interior decor.”
Bathroom and restroom areas are being finished off with ceramic floor and wall tiles.
“The most impressive part now is the staining of the monstrous concrete floor,” Elder said. “It’s going to be a very high luster ... a very shiny floor.
