Arrest made in teen carwash shooting

UPDATE #THREE 01/05/2011

Tyler Police Investigators have identified and arrested the shooter involved in the Murder of Nicole Cartwright. The suspect is identified as Gregory Dewayne Polley, B/M, 08/23/1984 of Longview, Texas. Polley was taken into custody Tuesday night, January 4, 2011 by Longview Police for a parole violation. Tyler Investigators obtained an arrest warrant last night for Polley issued by Judge Kennedy for 1st degree Murder. Polley’s bond was set at $500,000 dollars and he remains in Gregg County Jail.


UPDATE #TWO 01/03/2011

Tyler Police Investigators have made an arrest in connection to the shooting of Nicole Cartwright that occurred on December 24, 2010. The suspect is identified as Adrian Earl Blankenship Jr., B/M, 10-22-1988 of Longview Texas. Judge Kennedy signed the arrest warrant for 1st Degree Murder and placed a $500,000 dollar bond on Blakenship. This case remains under investigation.

UPDATE #ONE 12/28/2010

The victim in this case has been identified as Nicole Cartwright of Longview, Texas. Investigators have learned that Ms. Cartwright left Club REO to meet with family and friends, also from Longview, Texas, at the car wash on West Bow Street. Once at the car wash a disturbance occurred in the parking lot between four (4) females in a gray or blue car with dark tinted windows, possibly a Pontiac, and a group of individuals in a red Dodge Challenger. Shots were fired, striking Ms. Cartwright who later died at a local hospital. Investigators have determined that Ms. Cartwright was not involved in the disturbance nor was she in either vehicle. Investigators are requesting assistance in identifying the females in the gray or blue car, as well as identifying the suspect(s) involved in the shooting.

Tyler Police Investigate Homicide

On December 24, 2010 at approximately 1:36 a.m. the Tyler Police Department received a telephone call regarding a Disturbance at the William’s Chicken business located at 1118 W. Gentry Parkway. While en route to the scene officers were notified that gunshots had been fired and an individual may have been struck. As officers arrived on scene they located the victim at 1103 W. Bow Street with a single gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to East Texas Medical Center emergency room where they later succumbed to their injury. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit were notified and responded to the scene. The investigation is presently ongoing.
