Alleged ETX robber: 'I done something bad and want to turn myself in'
Crockett, Texas (Fox 51) — A Crockett man turned himself into authorities Monday after allegedly robbing a local business the previous day.
According to the Crockett Police Department, at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jason Kelly, 45, entered Mike's Corner, located on the 1200 block of East Loop 304, and bought two pieces of bubble gum. He then went around the counter and showed a gun while demanding cash from the clerk. The suspect then ran from the scene with an unknown amount of money.
Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after the robbery occurred, but did not catch the gunman.
At around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, a man walked into the police department and told police, "I done something bad and want to turn myself in." Detectives on the case were immediately notified and called in to interview the suspect.
During interrogation, Kelley confessed to robbing Mike’s Corner Store. Physical and visual evidence recovered from the scene corroborated information provided by Kelley during his confession.
The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, a 1st Degree Felony, and booked into the Houston County Jail.
