AERIAL VIDEO: Trespassers injured in Van Zandt oil storage facilty explosion

UPDATE (4:15): KETK has confirmed the names of the two people injured in the explosion.

Brandy Wolfe and H.R. Price were injured after an explosion at an oil storage facility in Van.

Officials tell KETK the two were trespassing at the time of the incident.

The case is now a criminal investigation.


UPDATE: Two people have been hospitalized following an early morning explosion and fire at a oil storage facility in Van.

It happened around 3:00 am.

According to authorities, the two victims trespassed onto the facility and were smoking on top of one of the storage tanks when it exploded.

Both are in serious condition.

The blast spread to two additional tanks.

Firefighters used a foam blanket to prevent the fire from spreading even further.


ORIGINAL STORY (7:30am): Emergency officials are working an explosion at an oil storage facility in Van Zandt County.

According to information from NBC News, the explosion happened on Van Zandt County Road 1514 off of Hwy. 110, north of Van around 3:00 am on Tuesday.

Two people have been hospitalized.

Multiple fire departments are on scene trying to contain the fire.

There are at lease five large storage tanks on location, and at least two are on fire.

The names and ages of the victims are unclear at this time, but one is reportedly on life support and the other has suffered severe burns.

NBC News reports that the victims were smoking near the storage tanks when they exploded.
