Tyler,Texas (FOX51) — According to the United States Geographical Survey, a 4.1 has shaken an East Texas town. 4:52 p.m.
USGS says the earthquake hit just two miles west northwest of Timpson at 4:52 p.m., Monday.
Timpson is 25 miles northeast of Nacogdoches and 40 miles southeast of Kilgore.
FOX51 spoke with residents of that area who said the earthquake was felt in Mt. Enterprise at 4:55 p.m.
FOX51 Facebook fans are saying the earthquake was also felt in Gary, Carthage, Gladewater, White Oak and Appleby.
USGS also reported multiple other earthquakes that have hit the East Texas area in the past few years:

May 26, 2012 - 2.5 earthquake
May 20, 2012 - 2.7 earthquake
Decemnber 7, 2012 - 2.8 earthquake
May 10, 2012 - 4.3 earthquake
- May 17, 2012 - 4.3 earthquake with one elderly woman injured
Many residents believe the cause of the earthquakes is from fracking. Fracking is the fracturing of rock by a pressurized liquid
