U.S. Custom and Border Protection officers seized over $2.7 million in marijuana at a Valley port of entry over the weekend.

On Saturday, June 29, agents working the Pharr International bridge encountered a Freight liner tractor trailer at the cargo center.

The vehicle was sent for a secondary inspection for officers to exam the cargo and that's where they found 350 packages of alleged marijuana mixed within a 1000 boxes of Serrano peppers.

The total weight of the packages was over 2,732 pounds with an estimated street value close to $2.7 million in U.S. currency.
