2 inmates escape Hopkins Co. Jail, 9 schools on lockdown

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, two inmates, one being held on a capital murder charge, escaped the Hopkins County jail Tuesday morning around 9:20 a.m.

The inmates, Brian Allen Tucker, 44,  and John Marlin King, 39, are believed to have scaled a fence while they were in the recreation yard.

Sheriff’s deputies located the jail clothes that were shed by the inmates.

Officials say they are unsure if the escapees are on foot or in a vehicle.

The sheriff’s office wants to warn people in the area to not approach the escapees, they are considered extremely dangerous.

There are multiple agencies assisting the Hopkins County Sheriff's office, including the Texas Rangers.

Currently, there are nine schools on lockdown in Sulphur Springs and six others in the surrounding Hopkins County areas.
