An 11-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man are accused of breaking into a home. Among the items stolen were a pistol and an AK-47 assault rifle with magazines and ammunition. Oddly, both firearms were already reported stolen.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the burglary happened at a home on Bennett Road in Lake Charles on Saturday, July 13 at roughly 8:00 p.m.

The two suspects fled the scene, but detectives quickly located the young boy and Nathaniel LeDay, 19. When questioned by deputies, LeDay admitted that he broke the window and the 11-year-old went into the home to get the guns while he waited outside.

Deputies were able to recover the stolen firearms. They ran the serial numbers and discovered that they were previously reported stolen.

The homeowner, Latasha C. Citizen, 36, was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms. She was released on a bond of $4,000.

LeDay was charged with Aggravated Burglary, two counts of Theft of a Firearm, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile in Commission of a Felony, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and Possession of Marijuana. He was additionally charged with Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution after they discovered he was hiding marijuana on his person while being booked into jail. His bond was set at $19,000.

The juvenile was released to family members with charges pending.
