tyler, tx — Artists, dancers and musicians will highlight the opening of Gallery Main Street’s “The Art of Dance” exhibit Saturday, Aug. 4, 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the gallery, 110 W. Erwin, in downtown Tyler.
Gallery Curator Ashley Foxx said the reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will feature 18 works of art, ranging from watercolor to oil, graphite, photography and sculpture.
A highlight of the reception will be a dance performance by Intersect Dance Collective.
"Part of the mission of Intersect Dance Collective is to expose the public to the art of dance," said Assistant Artistic Director Alli Leatherman. "This is a unique and wonderful opportunity to do that by bringing art and dance together. We are honored to be part of building the dance community of Tyler."
Music will be provided by “Second Childhood.”
Gallery Main Street organizes new gallery exhibits every six weeks. Every exhibit at the gallery is juried. Artists enter digital images of their work, which are then scored by a jury of professional artists. The top-scoring pieces are selected for the exhibit.
Gallery Main Street is a program of the City of Tyler Main Street Department in cooperation with the Downtown Tyler Arts Coalition and Heart of Tyler, Inc.
